My father in law, recently passed away (he was Czech and was living back there with his wife).
As he ddn't have a will and under Czech law his estate is split 50/50 between wife and daughter (my wife).
To be involved in proceedings she needs to visit the notarials office in prague, however she doesn't want to do that until she knows how much the estate is worth (she had a terrible relationship with him so theres no emotion involved).
She has emailed the solicitor in Prague and they have finally come back and say that he signed a 'Deed of Donation' that passed his property onto his wife. The rest of his estate once split will be worth about £2k so a hassle for a relatively small amount... The property is worth £100k.. She has asked the solicitor to send over the signed Deed of Donation, the solicitor has said she cannot send this and she will only be able to view if she travels to Prague..
This doesn't feel right, I know it's Czech Law so there might not be anyone who cal help, but it all seems rather fishy to me..
