  • Executor issue - Fiduciary ?

    Hi there.

I am due to inherit some money from a family estate. The executor chose to employ a legal firm to represent her to deal with me (beneficiary) as the relationship wasn't the best to put it bluntly.
The executor has now chosen to ditch the legal firm(10 months later and only 1 letter from her firm and 2 emails) and continue with finalising the estate.
The executor has told me that my questions/challenges against the estate and Estate management company(presume her legal team) has amounted to around £10k(nearly fell off my seat!!) She finished her email asking my views on how this should be accounted for.

Note, the executor is also a beneficiary, along with a close family member of theirs. Does this sound like a Fiduciary breach of duty? Any advice is welcomed.

    Thanks

    Not on this information.

You can ask for an explanation/breakdown of the cost.

Might you have contributed to the executor feeling the need to engage solicitors?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.
