    My brother was going to buy my half of a house we inherited from my mother. He did some work on it, ie refitted the bathroom.
    When we sell the house he wants compensation for the work and the increase to the house price due to the work.

    As I understand it he can claim for fixtures and fittings if he has receipts, can he claim for the workmen's wages?

    What are the rules of this situation please?

    Are you unwilling to give him half what he spent on work and materials? If so, why?

      No not at all. I just want to know what he can or can't do because he's been trying to fleece me for over two years and I need some facts about how this all works.

            I've not contributed anything as he shut me out years ago and just got on with things himself.

            What should he get from the final sale before things are split between us?

            Money for fixtures and fittings and the money he paid for the work to be done? The money the property has increased in value because of his work? Is that correct?

            If he can't provide receipts for any of those things what will happen?
