Could i please ask who does this defintion encompass "or would if living be"

more of the context if falls under
every Person who may benefit is (or would if living be) a Beneficiary

Does it mean people that have died or
people that could be born or both and
i have read that Person in a legal context can also mean a legal entity eg a company

I have tried search the internet but get no definition, but i have found it does apears
quite often in legal text including criminal law which in this case it is not

the text is from a Discretionary Trust
The trust has unclosed (who could be born) classes of beneficiaries, deceased beneficiaries and the the trustees hhave the power to add beneficiaries

hopefully i have given enough information, but as the words "or would if living be", i cannot comprehend fully i am not sure whatmight help
