  • Advice regarding Inheritance Tax

I don't understand the rules of inheritance tax.
I find myself wanting to bury my head in the sand when it is spoken about.
Me and my husband own our own home, we have a substantial amount in savings.
When one of us dies, would the other have to pay inheritance tax? When the second person dies, would they have to pay inheritance tax?

Inheritance tax depends on the amount of the estate, who inherits, and the prevailing rules and allowances in place at the time of death.
Inheritance Tax (IHT) is paid when a person's estate is worth more than £325,000 when they die - exemptions, passing on property. Sometimes known as death duties.
