  • Beneficiary query

Having previously received sound advice from the site, I would like to try again.

I have been notified by solicitor’s letter that I have been left a sum of money by a relative who died 6 months ago and the legacy will be paid out in a few months.

The will states that I inherit the bequest upon her death but If the bequest fails before this (I presume if I had died before her) the sum is then shared equally between the other beneficiaries.
As I have survived her, but die before the bequest is paid out, will it go into my estate or will it still be split between the other beneficiaries?

More likely into your estate, but this is subject to the terms of the will under which you are to receive this bequest.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
