  • Iht205 tax return - executor signatures

I am joint executor along with my sister-in-law for my dear departed wife. I have completed a paper draft of the document prior to submitting on-line. Do both executors need to sign this particular on-line tax return document?. Note NO TAX IS DUE.
(I know both of us have to sign the PROBATE application being the next stage for obtaining a Grant of Probate.)

Pg 6 of the IHT205 Return has Boxes for Name & Addresses of UP TO max of 4 Executors. In my case the second executor is on holiday for 2 weeks so if the REGULATION allows for only 1 OR MORE, ie either of us, then I can complete the IHT205 over the weekend.

Pg 25 of the 'Notes to help you fill in the form' states that "Each person applying for a Grant of Probate should read the statement at the end of the Tax Return and then sign i.e. It is ambiguous in that it does not say that each executorMUST SIGN the tax return. Like most joint current bank accounts, either account holder can sign a cheque so in this case can either executor submit the IHT205 Tax Return form?.
