  • Can I register a family death and get death cert. without intermeddling?

    Hello,

I'd be very grateful of any advice.

Can I register a family death and get a death certificate to arrange a funeral without intermeddling?

We are not able to act in capacity as administrator at this time owing to other family issues and health but need to arrange a funeral.

There is no will/executor and presently no administrator.

    Thank you very much

    Yes, you can.

Arranging a funeral is a private contract between the person arranging it and the funeral director. It creates a debt from the estate to the person paying - a 'proper administrtaion expense' which the executor can re-imburse. It is not per se an act of administration of the estate.

Your caution is proper, and do no more than suggested.
