  • Will and grant of probate

When you go onto the Gov website and purchase the grant of probate, is the will that is attached to it accurate and final, or can a (potential) later one be followed but no have no mention to it?

My daughters estranged fathers mother (her grandmother) died and she is named as a beneficiary on the will that is lodged on the gov website, but her brother says that she was written out of the will and is not entitled to anything. she does not have direct contact with her father and hasn't for many years and so has no way of knowing if what she is being told is correct or not. Can there be extra pages attached to the will that state she is no longer a beneficiary, but you just don't get to see them as they are add ons? her siblings have already had their inheritance but she has not been notified of anything.

    many thanks

It could be that a Codicil was added to the original Will, which you do not know about. You need to apply for a copy of the Will , which will be for public knowledge once Probate has been granted amd that would show exactly what was submitted.

The copy of the will purchased via the Government website should be complete and final and include any codicils
If a later will has been found the original grant should have been revoked by the court and records updated.
Your daughter needs to contact the executor

Thank you for your replies, I rang the probate office today and they did indeed say that the will i had was final and accurate with no codicil as it would show on the will.

Did you explain why you were asking the questions and did you get answers to the problem?
