  • My Property

    Hi,

I am an elderly homeowner, My son has serious debt problems and could be made bankrupt by his creditors.
He has never left home due to mental illness.

What would be the best option to ensure he can live in the property until death?

Is it possible to leave the house to my other children but let him have a right to reside in the property?

Should i remove him from my Will and come to some arrangement with my other children?

    Thanks.

I should think the easiest way is to leave the property in trust to your children, but give your son the right to live there as long as he wishes.

As the house will be in trust, he could be charged rent by the trustees, such rent being paid by housing benefit if he is in receipt of benefits
