Hi, me again, I'm in a situation where I have been named as a joint Executor, along with my father, in my mother's will. The complication here is that my father has been divorced from my mother and re-married to his second wife for nearly 40 years, and his second wife never looked kindly on my mother. To further complicate things, I don't believe my mother ever asked my father if he actually wanted to be named as an Executor for her will, and I'm pretty sure he won't want to get involved because of how his second wife feels.
So given the above, is it difficult for my father to renounce his position as a joint Executor of the will? Is there any paper work that has to be submitted or anything like that?
Him and I live outside of the UK, and my mother will be passing on very very soon, so I'm concerned about how this type of issue could cause delays in me carrying out the Executor role that I need to do.
Does anybody have any advice or insights?
