  • Probate application SO slow!

    Hello

Is anyone else experiencing or know anyone who is finding the probate application service incredibly slow and inefficient? I sent in my postal application in May so it's been 5 months, and in that time I have received only 4 pieces of communication with them (2 emails, 2 letters) asking for information that I have already sent them? They seem to take an age to turn around each piece of correspondence, and I have now not heard from them again for 5 weeks since the last time I sent them an email in response to one of their questions. I know they're not waiting on the IHT to be signed off as they have confirmed HMRC has sent them the relevant clearance form (IHT421). Calling them seems to be hopeless - no one ever picks up, & I just tried today again & there's a recorded message saying they're having 'technical difficulties' and to call back later. Sending them an email also appears to be useless as no one replies. It is incredibly frustrating and worse, I don't feel any confidence that any progress is being made judging by the randomness of the process. They don't seem to have one clear owner of the application to see it through from start to finish.

Would be interested to hear of others' experience and whether anyone has any advice on how I can escalate this. It is very stressful, this lack of communication.

    Thanks
