A will drawn up in Southern Africa

I wonder if anyone can answer me this question.

A relative of mine lives in Africa but has a considerable amount of money in the UK. He is wanting to make a will that includes his money in the UK. If the unthinkable was to happen and he passed away would the legal system in the UK (primarily scotland) honour his will from abroad?
