This been going on for some 6 months now, a lot of emails and letters, promises followed by denials, forgetting, or probably ignoring, what had been said previously. We originally parted because some very unpleasant comments he made to my wife.

He is not, understandably, keen for us to go round. How will he explain the money and the continuing contact with his "bit on the side", contact he has strenuously denied over the years, probably about 40. His wife is a very nice person and I wouldn't want to upset her, though she's had her suspicions.

His "bit on the sde", a lovely lady, could be coming back from the grave to bite him on the bum. She would be pleased with that.

At last a result ! A correctly completed cheque which the bank accepted. He also sent a stamped addressed envelope for the return of the other, invalidly completed, cheque after he asked for it to be returned and I told him "not without a SAE" as he has already cost us more money.

The cheque will be returned when the correctly completed cheque has cleared, probably Thursday/Friday next week.

Brilliant news Ostell. Keeping fingers crossed it all clears fine.
Had you threatened to return the cheque in person?
