Could someone please advise. I contrary to all the advice and warnings I received from friends and family, got involved with Talk Talk Telecom several months ago. I took out a contract with them for a telephone and broadband service. The equipment they supplied was faulty and sub-standard and it didn't work. After nearly two weeks of lengthy phone calls and being pushed from pillar to posts, one of these being call centres across the world. I finally gave up and told them that I had no intention of carrying on and was cancelled the contract. After numerous further phone calls again all over the world I finally reached the point where they agreed that the contract was cancelled and they would send me a returns package for their equipment. However they have continually sent me demands for settlement of a debt they claim I owe. They had instructed solicitors who sent demanding letters and I have on several occasions denied that the debt is due and their claim is justified. They have now sent me a Notice of Intention to File a Default. I would like to know whether they are legally allowed to do so if the claim is being disputed and vehemently denied. Please help.
