  • Installation Fee

My daughter's flatmate has told my daughter that it has cost £160 to have their phone installed.
There was no line or anything there before.
This money is none refundable, no money off the bill etc.
Is this right? Or is the flatmate ripping here off?

    Re: Installation Fee

£125 and its BT, do you have a cable operator in that area because they will be cheaper than that.

            Re: Installation Fee

BT wanted £143 to install mine. But I went with cable, as it was in place from the previous tenants.

            That was early January.

I was surprised that BT want to charge to put in a phone line that enables them to charge you to use their product.
Would've thought they would do it for free!
              Oh well.

Sal when we moved in here BT tried to tell us there had never been a phone line to this address.
There was though, on one of the skirting boards a little box that was obviously for a phone. When the engineer called I showed him this and he agreed that there was once a phone here. In the end we only paid the reconnection charge. Just thought I'd throw this in cause I hate BT and they are very crafty.
