0161 240 0653 (SCAM) Natwest (and Automated Message) Phone Calls 0161 2400653

I have just had within the space of the last 20 minutes 3 telephone calls all automated asking me to press a number to confirm my name. I never did and hung instead knowing full well that by pressing said number that i may be charged hundreds of pounds for the pleasure. I wrote down the following telephone numbers:

0161 240 0653
0121 260 2936
0203 036 6645

When i searched each number, a lot of people on the who calls me website were reporting that it was a SCAM and the numbers were allegedly from Natwest and lots had, in fact, contacted Natwest who confirmed the calls were not from them. Some were not even Natwest Customers, but were still getting these calls. So do not ever press any numbers when you receive automated telephone calls as its clear that scammers are piggy backing on what was once a legitimate method of communication by companies that cost you nothing, in the hope you press the number so you can be scammed by them out of amounts in the Hundreds of Pounds which will be added to your phone bill.

I put this in the Telecommunications Sections as there is no Telephone Scam section like there is for Online Scams, so i will leave it for the site team to move the thread to if there is a more appropriate section for it.

I have traced the phone numbers you listed as the first one (0161 240 0653) has rang me a lot over the past few days and all 3 numbers are registered to a company called Colt Technology Services at offices around the country, after looking into the company I found nothing shifty but it is odd that these calls came from somewhere linked to them. I know this thread is pretty old but I will keep up to date if i find anything else or if i get word from the company themselves about this who I have contacted but am yet waiting for a reply
