  • Who is responsible? A broadband query.

When changing broadband ISP's, who is responsible for informing the outgoing ISP when the change is happening? Surely it must be the new provider when they ask for the MAC code from your original provider? If that is the case how can the original provider possibly have an excuse to keep charging me by direct debit? Their excuse is that I should have informed them.

Anyone have a link that can inform of who has the responsibility for terminating the contract?

It is probably part of your contract with the original provider (it is for many) that you give them notice to end the contract. All the new guys do is take over the wires to your house, the original provider doesn't know when they are moved. The MAC code just give authority (to Openreach?) to move the wires. Just because a MAC code is asked for doesn't mean the service will be moved. A MAC code has a finite life.
