  • Water Meters

Ok moved in this flat Dec 2013 already had a water meter, we have never had one before in any of our other homes.
You can not have them removed and so I was worried about the cost as the rule of thumb is more folks than bedrooms you are worse off.
Any way I read about the Watersure scheme and applied and have been on that since Feb 2014. It is a cap on the cost that even if you use more on the meter you will not pay more than the annual charge when no meter in the property.
Well we been paying the normal charge by DD for 2 years, never had a bill with meter readings on and I really should have been in touch about this sooner but it slipped my mind.
So going online and checking all the bills, no meter readings recorded anywhere and the cahp has read the meter every six month.
So my question after all that prattling lol

6/3/14 meter read 413 today it is 515 so we have used 136 whatever lol and just wondered if anyone knew the approx cost of this and if there are add ons to the bill besides the meter stuff like standing charges etc .
    Thanks as always Enaid x

    Re: Water Meters

I suspect your meter records cubic meters of water used (some I believe record in Litres).
You will be charged according to their tariff, plus a standing charge plus sewerage (if they are responsible for that)

Their charges should be available to view on line

Yep but I cant understand it and need me facts before I go for the jugular

      2. Measured charges
      Water
      Sewerage
      Standing charge
      Volumetric charge per m3
      Standing charge
Fixed charge (surface water drainage & highway drainage)
      Volumetric charge per m3
      £34.79
      £1.750
      £7.04
      £91.20
      £1.182
Assumes a 15mm meter has been fitted.
If premises only receive a water service the standing charge will be £36.34.
If premises are not connected to the public sewer system for surface water drainage, either directly or indirectly, the sewerage fixed charge is £37.24. Our surface water drainage section explains more.

        Re: Water Meters

So you have two standing charges
Plus fixed charge for surface water drainage
Plus two Volumetric charges: one for supplying water, the other for removing it!

        So I calculate as follows:
        Cost136 m3 x 1.750)+(136 m3 x 1.182) = £398.75
        TOTAL COST: £34.79 +7.04 + 91.20 +398.75 = £531.78

            Re: Water Meters

Sorry... you'll have to double up the standing charges (unless they have increased in the past two years), but perhaps reduce the meterage charges if the price has altered in the past couple of years!

Wales I have done that it was my first stop. Thing is I got a not so bright talking to me, he had no idea what he was on about, I now have my meter readings but they have not done a statement using the readings. I will carry on till i get a proper result as to if I should be on meter or watersure deal.
