  • BT vision problem.

Hi, today I received a BT vision box + subscription in the post.

My bt bill is in my name, and i am the bill payer.

I didn't order this box however my girlfriend did without telling me, asking permission or BT asking permission.

Where do I stand legally with this?

I do not want this service and do not want to pay for it (obviously), nor do I wash to pay any cancellation fees.

    Thanks in advance,

    Joe.

    Re: BT vision problem.

Well for a start BT should not have discussed YOUR account with your girlfriend.

Is your girlfriend allowed to ring your Bank and speak about your account? No, exactly...

Not sure what the legal term is for this, but BT have breached personal data, as they should not discuss your account with anyone else unless you have given written permission for her to do so.

You cannot be charged a cancellation fee as YOU did not order the box in the first place.

I'm sure somene else with abit more knowledge than myself will come along and help you further with this. But hope I've helped so far.

That was my presumption. Will this create any difficulties for my girlfriend however?

No they cant, as her name is not on the account.

Its the same as her contacting YOUR bank to apply for a credit card... It it not allowed.
Best thing to do is put a letter in writing to them ( send recorded delivery) stating the fact that YOU did not order these items and that you want to cancel. They cannot refuse you, as YOU did not order it in the first place.

if its arrived in the post today you should have a cooling-off period and should be able to return the gear OR get the account put into her sole name.

I had BT Vision until last month and it reallky is C-R-A-P in my area. The pre-loaded prgrams and films kept stalling because of slow borarband speed and when you complain you have a hell of a lot of grief with foreign call centres and engineers coming out who can't fix the problem etc. must have spent like 18 hours of my life on the phone talking to different BT departments across the globe who couldn't fix the problem.

BT also conned us into an 18 month deal that was almost impossible to break despite the aservice not working properly. eventually got a rebate and cancellation but man it was hard work!!!!!!!!!!
