  • EDF - Wrong meter reading

:tinysmile_cry_t:My son recently had a meter reading taken only to be told the reading they have is incorrect and was taken by one of their people quite some time ago, now they have said that he owes 395.00 as the reading was wrong. He has not got a clue what the meter reading was suppose to have been as it was more than less about a year ago. Now they are saying he has to pay £66,oo per month even though he is on benefit. Can he contest this bill as he/I will be paying for something they are just saying to pay without any actual readings?

    Please help

Has he taken his own meter reading recently ?

Was the reading when he moved in the one they are now saying was wrong ?

Thanks for replying. No he has been in his flat for about 4 years, but because they only read the meter once a year I think, one of their guys took down the wrong meter reading but it was never queried. From taking the reading recently they have come up with he was underestimated. He is not the best of people to keep track of bills or anything, I am just wondering what proof has he got that it was underestimated? Not sure if he has a leg to stand on in this case, but he cannot afford £66.00 per month to pay off the extra charge and nor have I, can they not set this aside and he offers a payment. This is not included of any recent bills that will be coming in.

Does he have a day rate and a night rate or just one rate 24 hrs ?

(just thinking I went through lots of poop cause they transposed readings)

Ask EDF for statements showing the readings over the past two years so you can see where any discrepanies are.
