Hi,
I have a btl property. It was wrecked by a tenant back in 2015 and has been empty since.
At that time my letting agent contacted welsh water to advise it's empty etc, all utilities were disconnected.
In 2020 welsh water decided to re-activate the account and start sending estimated bills to the address. I had no knowledge of this because I never visit the property, and it resulted in a ccj against me, and a charge against the property.
When I asked why they decided to re-connect the account without my request they basically replied that they have the right to do so.
This has caused me so much stress as I was declined a mortgage due to the ccj.
They have finally agreed to remove the ccj as long as I pay them for the court fees.
Is this right? normal? fair?
Thank you.
