No there is no excess. They are saying that I did not declare the claim previously when it happened. They claim they have no record of the previous claim. I declare a previous claim. They also spoke to me about the previous claim when I took out the insurance as Tey rang me as it had come up on a search. The 145.00 they are charging is what they are saying is the extra i should have paid for my policy had this claim been known to them but they did know.

What I want to know is they have offered a cash settlement for the claim that is 145 less than the quote so can I take the cash settlement and then find another contractor to do the job cheaper?? Or do I need to use the contractor that gave the quote?

That will depend on the exact wording of the offer.

If Insurance pays a cash settlement can I use a different contractor for the job than the quote the insurance company.was given? Eg can I fi d a company to do the job for the cash settlement amount . Long story short the 175 is not excess it's the insurance company ripping me of

            This is the exact wording

Further to our phone call earlier, I have spoken to Frontier regarding the premium increase.

They have advised us that no one from frontier contacted you regarding the previous claim and that the offer of £805.89 Plus VAT is their final offer and will not be looking to amend this.

They have advised me to direct you to their complaints procedure if you are still unhappy with this decision.

For your convenience, I have attached a copy of your policy wording with the complaints process highlighted.

Please advise me of how you wish to proceed with your claim, if you wish to accept the cash settlement offer, please provide me with the following details and I will have the payment raised. Once this is raised, the settlement will be in your account within 5 business days

I am still unclear about the repair that was carried out, are you saying that when the repair was carried out, the old stop cock was removed and a piece of plastic pipe (blue) was installed in its place.

was the pipe connected to the supply of the stop cock lead, and it continued in plastic(blue) pipe. or are you saying they used lead to plastic pipe adapters.
the reason I ask is because it seems an awful lot of money for a job that size, I would expect the groundworks to cost no more than £200 and a further £200 for the repair. I would accept their offer and find someone who is reasonable.

Thank you everyone it good to know that you can get good advice on here .

I think this will be concluded today. After speaking tonthe company who quoted for the job they actually want 3,200 for the job it was 950 a day for three days work. Plus 350 for parts. The insurance are going to pay 3,500 ish cash settlement so I think I will accept this and find someone to doni cheaper and maybe use the settlement to pay for the full feed pipe to be replaced instead of just splicing it like last time and that should be a better longer lasting fix (fingers crossed).
