  • Fitting gas and electric meters with a court warrant

The man from eon called today to fit prepaid meters to the property I rent.

He said we need to agree your out standing balance and I will set it at 7 pound a week on each meter, so every week there will be an extra standing charge of 7 pound a week on each meter.

I said I have never agreed to this and I do not agree to this charge now! He said fine we will apply to the court for a warrant to come and change the meters and there will be extra charges ontop, have a nice day see you in court.

My question is, can eon apply those extra charges to the new meters during and after the court hearing. Once they get a court order to remove them, can they set the standing charge at what ever they see fit? And alos since they are making the application to the court and not me so do they pick up the costs for a court hearing and everthing ells?

    Thanks

Have you got an outstanding debt owed to Eon or was it a previous tenant etc? (presumably it is your debt but checking as you haven't actually said)

What communication have you had with Eon up to the point of them coming to change the meters to prepayment?

eon claim I owe them the charges

In February they sent a letter to the occupier of the property demanding money from the previous tenant, otherwise they would get a warrant to fit pre paid meters. I called the local man at eon to tell him I had moved in and he came round to take a gas and electric reading and checked my tenancy agreement (to see if I was a new tenant) and he said we will register you as a new customer
