Accessing court case records?

I want to know if you can access court case records within sherrif courts in Scotland. The case didn't involve myself but I know the case number and the person's name. The case was less than 5 years ago. If this is possible can someone point me in the right direction of where I would obtain this information?

Reason for asking is wanting to know the conviction a criminal received after trial. Newspapers didn't cover it and police said due to GDPR they can't tell me.

In that case, have you contacted the court that heard the trial and see if there is a way to obtain a transcript/decision? If you have, what was their response?
