  • Kids Safe PC use

Peeks, have been having a few problems with my kids using the internet. they have their own account set up on the PC with 'safe search' enabled. But still manage to find dodgy game sites ~(the latest one is games to successfully deliver cocaine etc and when complete are rewarded with a lovely picture of a naked lady (which they found bloody hilarious) )

So with their new computer they have the 'Easybits' desktop.

Wondered if you knew of any safe kids sites lists etc that I can add to the approved list for them. I found a couple searching but they aren't that great.

Best one I found was Woodlands Junior School. Though I had thought there would be some kind of safe standard mark type thing site ??

Also if you have come across the easy bits applications what do you think of them?

(Kids 8,7,5 and all very pc savvy (which is good but a bit annoying lol) )

    Cheers xxx

Unfortunatly the extent of my kids pc experience is watching planes on youtube.

I will have a look round though for you

Here a couple i have found, not checked them but they look reasonable

KidGrid(tm) - Safe WebSites Only Kid Safe Internet Links!
Surfing the Net with Kids: Guide to the BEST KID SITES: K-12 educational website reviews

I may as well look into it as i will have the same problem soon enough

This is what I am testing out at the moment.

Magic Desktop - let your PC act as babysitter!

theres also Skypito - Home for PTP (free addition to Skype~) - my eldest has MSN available on her Magic desktop as her friends tend to have MSN rather than skype.

That KidGrid one you linked looks okay on a quick look. Will go through it properly later.

          That looks quite good
You could do a lot of the settings yourself, but that seems to take care of it all.
The privacy policy is good too.
I will have a play with that over the weekend i think

As for skype/msn we are a long way off that stage yet.. they are only 4 & 2, although my 2 yr old daughter is getting gobby & stubborn already, must get it from Kel...lol

I have Family Safety on MSN so that covers most of it.

Yes you can do most of the settings yourself but I havent and Google safe search is just pants. IMO. This is a one click thing.

They all are, it not so musch the search engine as the search tags
I have an article somewhere where a company got done beause of the search tags were child related and it linked to porn sites.
I will dig it out, it was only recent as well
