Thank you CB, have done all that you said and it hasn't come back. It also got rid of another problem the computer had.
Can't say it's running any quicker but problems are gone.
I am impressed with myself for not looking at those instructions and giving up! Was tempting.

Some times the increase in system performance is not perceptible, but if it has resolved your issues then that's great.

pmsl that's why it was so easy to follow then!
Mind you, the IT guy at work says things like 'this is really simple' which then makes me feel thick as I haven't a clue what he says after that!
