  • Cause of death

My husband had 2 bleed on the brains about 20 yrs ago and was fully recovered from this.
Earlier this year he had a kidney cancer removed and started immunotherapy back in august and was having this every 3 weeks the last one being at the end of November as this was stopped as he was having bad bouts of diarrhoea it was then stopped and he was put on prednisone for 3 days at 60 mg and to take less mgs for another 5 days and then lower doses after 3 days he stopped as it got worse. He was covered by private health so was having heart tests, bloods tests, ecgs regularly.
On 14 December he woke in middle of night complaining of bad stomach pain we phoned 111 who told us to take paracetamol and that a dr would call. We also spoke to our private health care who said a dr would call. In the morning the nhs phoned and said my husband had to go to see a dr in acute internal medicine he was given 1 dose of IV MTP 190mg and had to have 2 more of these over the following days, he went on the Monday. On the Tuesday 23rd he collapsed and he’s heart stopped and he had to be resuscitated and they managed to get his heart going again.
He was rushed to the local hospital and he never regained consciousness and he had all the tests but he was brain dead and there was nothing they could do.
We were told a week ago by the independent examiner that his case was being referred to coroners.
the independent examiner told us today that my husband died of a severe brain injury this was caused by the immunotherapy,
Which Caused a cardiac arrest and this caused the brain injury.
Im not happy with what they have told me and they are going to speak to the coroner again. I am awaiting their response? Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice.

I am sorry but this is not an area of law I am familiar with. However I would imagine a complaint to the Trust involved and perhaps the NHS would be the place to start: https://www.england.nhs.uk/contact-u...nts/complaint/
It may also be worth speaking to a medical negligence specialist lawyer if you can get a free initial consultation.
I hope someone with more knowledge will post.
I am so sorry for your loss.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Medical negligence is a specialist area and I don't know whether anyone here has experience of this to advise you, if they do they will be able to comment on this thread

It seems the inquest has not yet been held, is that correct? It may be worth you speaking to medical.neglgence law firm to discuss how.your concerns can be heard at the inquest.
All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. I am not a lawyer and do not hold any legal qualifications.
