  • Total knee replacement surgery

I have recently had a total knee replacement surgery. I have an allergy to penicillin and I was given penicillin in surgery . Straight after surgery and still in hospital I was not given the correct painkillers or in a position to move my knee or exercise . I was sent home to early without meeting the hospitals criteria for being sent home . I did not see the surgeon either during my stay .
I remained in agony for three weeks post surgery at home , despite speaking to the hospital and still didn’t receive the right pain relief . I eventually complained as saw the consultant who put me on extensive physio and sorted my medication . I was then able to start moving my knee and exercising. Now four months later I feel I have less movement than I had before my operation and can still not return to work full time. Is this normal as I was told I would be able to return to normal duties / work at eight weeks post op.

That's a medical question really, not a legal one, but if you are thinking that the hospital/surgeon was negligent then you would need to consult a solicitor specialising in medical negligence.

You would need to get an expert opinion and report from a medical professional to support a legal.claim. You would have to pay for the report yourself.
