If it will help, many years ago I was involved in a car accident that was not my fault. My settlement included £2000 to pay for treatment of a psychological condition that had arisen as a result of the accident.
Thinking back, this came after I complained that there were no independent medical reports and the solicitor was relying on medical evidence from doctors who treated me.
In my case, a red car came out of a side road without giving way or stopping and drove into me as I passed by on the main road. For many years afterwards, whether as driver or passenger, every time I saw a red car coming out of a side road, I flinched, expecting it to hit me.
As a non legal person, the best advice I can offer is don't let the solicitor bully you into a quick settlement because you will only get one chance. As I recall, don't you have 3 years from the date of the accident so what's the hurry?
I see that the date of your initial post was some months ago. I hope your health is beginning to improve and that you have got somewhere with your complaint.
