  • VT bmwfs with an electrical fault

    Hi guys,
Iv spent some time on the forum looking up vt, unfortunately haven't found an answer so I apologise for a new thread about vt.

Bought a 1 series through bmw used 2010 at 44000m on a 4 yr pcp. Now 2 and a half years in iv reached 50 percent paid from total due. Cars only done 25 thousand miles, I'd opted for 15000 per year so well within the limit. Apart from alloy scuffs no damage re wear and tear. Serviced regularly and has mot.

It's had had an electrical fault for 6 months which is intermittent, the dashboard lights up with problems in drive, power steering, pumps etc, the car is still drivable but reduced speed when the errors happen, between errors drives normally. It initially spent 4 weeks with a reputable bmw specialist who replaced a junction box and reprogrammed car cost me 750 as it required a lot of diagnostics. A month after I got it back similar issues gradually getting worse, it went back to same guy who couldn't figure it out, then went to bmw sytner for 2 and they couldn't get the car to fault on them.. They gave it back and charged me for a pointless diagnostic.

I sent a vt notice yesterday to bmwfs as part ex value is much lower than settlement value. I'm getting another car from them to help with new baby, this time good old bank loan.

Today the car faulted massively, I could still drive it but it took ages to start so much so I was going to call the aa. Was able to get it started and limp home. It may just turn on normally for the next week. I just want to find out where I stand in terms of vt rights. Should I send the car to a different dealer hoping to find out what's wrong with it so I can get it fixed or should I continue with the vt for this car, if they find the electrical fault when they check the car over or have same trouble I had today will it mean massive bills for me?

Just really confused about what the best course of action is, this cars been in the garage for so long, has cost a lot in terms of trying to diagnose the problem not to mention my wife's alternate travel arrangements.

Thanks guys if you can advise id be grateful.
