  • Volkswagen agree Finance but pull out the deal

    Advice needed,

I was initially accepted for finance on a new Skoda Octavia vRS Estate(Family is growing and fed up of having the dog on the front seat). and the deal was on the 7th of March when they searched my credit record. The same day HSBC approved me for my loan. Volkswagen have since done a soft credit search on the 16th. On the 18th I had a call from the Skoda dealership saying they are not going to fund my car. The dealership can't understand and they said this doesn't happen.

I phoned Experian and they said it could be they have found more information above and beyond my credit score but without me filling in any information regarding how much i earn or other Finances.

Skoda agreed to take my existing finance on my current car(settlement of £10,966). My loan of £5000 is to pay the negative equity on my car by £3293 and £1415 for deposit. Better APR on loan if £5000 and over.

47 monthly repayments of £261 plus 48 loan repayments of £194(£87 taken from old loan and incorporated into new loan). Altogehter is £63 more then my 2013 Vauxhall Astra.

Im in the Armed Forces and receive a Salary of £25,074. Tax, National Insurance, House, council Tax and a couple more low values are taken at source. Leaves me with around £1466 give or take £10. After ALL bills are paid that gives me around £800 disposable income every month.

Should I appeal and would I get anywhere?

    Thanks in advance

    Who would you appeal to?
The reason the country got in such a mess was partly by making loans that folks couldn't afford.
Credit due to lenders now for being more rigorous.
I'd suggest you try and learn more about why you were refused.

        Hi Welcome to LB.

I have seen a few case recently where service personnel have been approved for finance only to have it withdrawn after a few days.
Can you tell me what references (other than credit ref. agencies) if any were asked for?
What is the status on your Experian credit file?
It would be wise to check Equifax and Noddle which is free in case, as not all credit provider report to all the reference agencies.
Going on my own experience could there be anything from a deployment or posting abroad that might have cropped up.

You are fully entitled to demand that the proposed credit provider discloses the reason for declining the application.

( a final thought after a look at another case, I see that VW have declined finance on residential and electoral roll entries, as I know to well have moved at least once in every 3-4 years it is pathetic seeing that service personnel have to move as and when required to do so)

the status on my Experian credit file is fair and I did default back in 2011 on a credit card but no other references were asked for other than my driving license when I did a test drive.
i did pay the fee for the equifax a long time ago but I discontinued using it and there is no deployments coming up and I'm in the electoral at my current address. very frustrating as not all situations are taken into account.

            Good morning,
On way that you may possibly get to the bottom of this rejection
is to make a Subject Access Request to HSBC requiring them to supply
all the personal data held on you, this should included the reasoning for
them suddenly rejecting the account after first approving it.

There is a £10.00 Statutory Fee Payable for this HSBC has 40 days to comply, (should be quicker in your case due to the small amount of data ).
Address to the Data Controller as HSBC head office, ( There is a template in the forum library for this. use signed for post.)

              Morning,

So 40 days from when I pay and they should supply me with the data?
Can I do the same with Volkswagen?

              Thanks

                Yes certainly SAR VW.

40 days start the day they receive the request.
