Sounds like the Honda HISS immobiliser system is on a wonk, a common thing when the blades get to that age apparently. I understand why they don't want to fix it at cost, £1000 seems to be the price to replace it. There is also mention of problems with the kill switches, this is a much cheaper repair and can be bypasses to test. But either way, it's not useable so I agree, go for the refund in full and cost of the battery
