Hello all, hope you can help a newbie.
I defaulted on a couple of payments earlier in the year with RCI and received a default notice which I genuinely forgot to deal with before the date ran out on the 10th of December. RCI then apparently issued me with a termination notice - I say apparently as I have never received this notice to which we were informed RCI cannot be held accountable for Royal Mail, idiots. The first I knew of this was last Sunday I received a text - yes that's right a text - from a chap at Anglia wanting to pick up my car! I then remembered I hadn't dealt with it and paid the arrears plus the coming month to show goodwill on the Sunday night and phoned on the Monday morning to which I was pretty much informed tough. Luckily or unluckily, depending on how you look at it, because tis the festive season (not the season of goodwill) the woman informed me they had called off the hounds until the 2nd of January which has given me time to speak to my fabulous parents who have taken out a loan for me and the debt will be paid in full tonight. This, however, is where my rage gets worse. The figure of £76xxx (can't remember exactly what she said last week) is a grand or so higher than the figure on the default notice which included a rebate allowable deduction (I'm assuming interest not now due?) but today when I phoned they've added another £200 odd for the idiot from Anglia's text!!
I'm assuming I need to just pay it as the 2nd is fast approaching but will I have any clout claiming anything back? My first port of call would have been CAB last Monday but they closed on the 20th for a fortnight reopening on the 6th hence my unluckily that it's Christmas comment.
I'm hoping at if I can even claim back the charge for the text given that I'm in Scotland and bailiffs don't have any pull here without a court order?
If you got to the end well done and thanks!!
