    Hmm...long time ago.
You say car was scrapped. Does that mean it was actually reduced to scrap, or the insurers wrote it off as uneconomical to repair?
Whose insurance company paid out...yours or third party?
Do you still have any of the paper work.
What was the vehicle, model, age? What did you value it at and what were you actually paid?
Finally a claim is not normally paid until you have signified your agreement to the settlement amount. So I would think that the insurers have on file your agreement to the payout and it will be very difficult at this late stage to challenge that. Were you coerced somehow into agreeing the settlement against your will?
Best advice would be to put it down to experience, and if there's a next time, be more forceful.
Earn more brownie points with OH and she'll eventually come round

What was the vehicle, model, age? What did you value it at and what were you actually paid? it was a S reg vauxhall astra 1.6 cars we were looking were around the £1700 I think they paid out £1400 we wanted £1700+
at the time we were on a suspended order on our house so finding extra money was very difficult .Finally a claim is not normally paid until you have signified your agreement to the settlement amount. Were you coerced somehow into agreeing the settlement against your will? I did argue with the time they just didn't want to budge an inch so in the end I had to give
