Hi, i am new on here so i hope i am posting in the right section.
Going back to last February 2011 i was on my way up to a VAG specialist to take my car for its MOT. On the road leading up to the garage my gearbox suddenly went pop. I pushed my car round to the garage and asked them to quote me on a reconditioned gearbox and fitting, my quote was £1100 this was also including a new clutch, i told them to go ahead.
I went to pick my car up a week later and they gave me my receipt and stated i had a 12 month warranty, i drove out of the garage with a smile on my face knowing my car was fixed.
May 2011, i started to hear a scraping noise when pulling off in 1st and turning so i wondered what was going on. My partner who does alot of the work on our car had a rough idea that is was something to do with the drive shaft, i decided to ring up the garage where i had my gearbox fitted and they said i should take the car up to them, they looked at my car and revealed that in fact the drive shaft was not fitted to the gearbox properly and was practically falling out. They apologised over and over and sorted the problem for me. Again i drove away from the garage feeling happy.

I was driving with my partner when a loud bang came from the engine whilst being in fourth gear and a strong smell of transmission fluid came into the car, i carried on driving until i was on a hill at a junction and waiting to pull out, i tried to pull out but the car would not move and was juddering asif it was about to stall. I rang the AA, lukily i was by a carpark so i managed to roll my car back and onto it so i wasnt blocking the road. My partners first instinct was gearbox but with having a new one i was questioning it with him, the AA arrived and actually confirmed the gearbox in his words 'had spluttered its guts' i was not happy at all. I got the AA to tow my car to the garage who fitted it as it was still under warranty. I reached the garage and i was told that i was only issued with a 6 month warranty. I have used this company since obtaining my car in oct 08 and was very upset at what i was hearing. I was shown a printed off piece of paper saying i had 6 months. I was then told that as a good will gesture they would fit me another reconditioned gearbox and i was only to pay £200 althought i was still unhappy i had no other choice but to pay up.
I picked my car up a week later and again drove away from the garage with a 6 month warranty.
After a week i started to find it hard to engage a gear so again i rang them and they told me to take it to them, they checked it and said i should give it time to wear in and they topped it up with transmission fluid.

Christmas had passed, i got into my car as i was back at work. I heard a scraping noise again so initially i thought the drive shaft had again not been fitted properly as this was the same noise as before. I rang the garage and they booked me in.
I took my car upto the garage and sat in with the mechanic to show him the noise, his initial thought was gearbox problem. The mechanic had a drive of my car round the carpark while i waited. I was told to take the car away and to take it back in on the monday whilst they got in touch with their suppliers (where they get their gearboxes from) I got into my car to drive away but the car started to judder and stall when i was about to reverse. The garage took the car in and had a look at it and they said that the slave cylinder had gone and they thought that this could in fact be the reason why the car had been scraping in first gear. I paid the £120 to have it fixed and went back up the next day to collect my car.

The day after returning from the garage that same scraping noise was comming from my car i was getting really annoyed by this point and again rang the garage. I booked the car in for the monday and they said they will fix the problem. I am still with no car.
The mechanic at the garage is 100% sure its gearbox related so the gearbox suppliers asked for my car top be taken to them which was 30 mile away. The mechanic took my car to them this monday just gone only to be told there was nothing wrong with my gearbox so the mechanic brought it back. I rang them monday afternoon and was told i should collect my car as the gearbox company ha ve advised me to continue driving my car until the problem gets worse, i am in a fresh warranty so i told them i was not removing my car until the problem is fixed. I am now being told that they have sent the gearbox back off yesterday and a fault has now been found and they will repair it, and my car should be done by tomorrow. Where do i stand with this as i have had numerous problems with this garage in the last year and surely i am not that unlucky to have been supplied 2 faulty gearboxes and i will be onto my 3rd in less than 12 months?
thanks rhea
