Hi. I’m looking for some advice about rejecting a car on finance.
I bought the car in February this year and have had nothing but problems since and would now like to reject the car as it is not fit for purpose but I’m not sure the best way to do this.
The car has had multiple problems with oil leaks, coolant problems, starting issues, battery issues, etc etc etc (it’s a long list). The car came with a 2 month warranty and has been in and out of the garage 7 or 8 times so far for numerous repairs and each time it comes back worse than when it went in! I feel I have been more than fair in allowing the dealership to make repairs but enough is enough.
So I have contacted both the dealership and the finance company to inform them that I would like to reject the car but I’m not entirely sure which one of them I should actually be dealing with. The dealership has emailed back (after many emails back and forth) to say if I want to return the car I just need to take it back with the v5, spare key etc. But is this right or should I let the finance company deal with things? I don’t want to lose money, having paid a deposit plus 2 finance payments so far for a car that has spent more time in the garage than on my runway so I would like to get as much of my money back as I can, not to mention the fact my runway is covered in oil which I will need to pay to get cleaned and the retention fee for my number plate which I will also have to fork out.
Does anyone have any advise as to my next move? How do I reject the car? And not end up too much out of pocket?
