  • preparing for VTing a car

hey I got a new Citroen on a hire purchase agreement with PSA Finance and it has the clause for voting in the contract.

I'm thinking of VTing soon within a few months and I wanna do it smoothly so I thought I'd ask what steps are important.

Also rob I read through the VT guide which is really good but I just wanna make the VT process go smoothly.

Currently, I have these steps in place atm:

    1) All service book and records kept safely with 2 keys
    2) All payments up to date and hitting the 50% payment mark for VT
    3) Below the 3yr total mileage limit
    4) emailed the finance company and they told me that they will use BVRLA guidelines - alloy scuffs below 50mm
    5) Have sufficient insurance, recent mot, service all on vehicle
    6) have checked the car using the guidelines - but from my untrained eye no severe marks of damage in line with BVRLA guideline
    7) have used and got a template VT letter ready using the VT guide

so what am I missing or doing wrong? maybe I should talk to a mechanic or someone who can do a report of the car's condition as proof that my car is in a suitable condition for VTing, maybe it all depends on the collection agents - cos they already say that collection fees cost £70.

I hope you all can guide me through this process because many of my friends say its a difficult process. I'm just unsure and thought i'd ask everyone here since many people have already been through the process successfully!

    thank you and stay safe!
