My partner has an ongoing complaint about BPF regarding the VT on his lease car. *He was charged over £900 for damage but not notified before his details were given to a debt management company (Moorcroft)
I have been writing letters on his behalf and today the Information Commissioner has ruled in his favour that "BPF did not proved the information required to ensure that your data was processed fairly in accordance with data protection regulations". *Apparently they are supposed to send a Funds Advice letter and give the customer 5 days to pay before passing on the account.
They blame human error and say this is a one off but I would love to know if anyone else has had the same issue i.e. not being notified of damage costs before the account being passed on.
We are referring the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman (for this and other reasons) but I have a feeling this probably isn't a one off.
