  • BCA - What's the process?

Hi, we've 'successfully' agreed termination with VWFS for our Audi and they have now passed our details on to BCA. I wanted to ask what to expect so I'm prepared, as I've read some horror stories (as well as some of success!)

    What happens on the day?
Presumably we have to sign off on their report? (Even though advice elsewhere isn't to sign anything?)
What if we disagree with their report?
I've read about secondary reports being carried out once BCA take the vehicle away... surely once they drive it away and produce report number 1, that's the one that we're bound to?

I've read about the fair wear and tear guidelines not taking into account vehicle age. But then also read on the forums that they sometimes can do. Which is it?! Surely fair wear and tear of our 4-year old vehicle is different to that of a 1-year-old?

Our agreement with VWFS states "If you have already paid at least this amount (which we have) plus any overdue instalments and have taken reasonable care of the goods, you will not have to pay any more".

There's also a clause under 'Care and use of the vehicle' which states 'You will be responsible for any damage to or deterioration of the vehicle which is in excess of fair wear and tear commensurate with the age and mileage of the vehicle'.

The above paragraph seems to take into age and mileage? Is that something we need to flag to BCA?

I can't see anything in the Terms about VT (There is something on Termination, but that refers to Audi terminating)

    R0b , I don't suppose you can help!?

Interested on how you get on with BCA on the fair wear and tear, I won't be VTing until mid-December.

Reading in the other threads, I don't believe that you actually have to sign anything off. Just make sure you've lots of documented evidence and photos to show the condition of the car and hand it back.

I'm (sadly) pretty OCD on these things so I'm putting a pack together for them with all the bits and pieces to hand back.

I fully intend to send my part of the V5 off myself and not leave it to them.

Can anyone help on the below? BCA are due to inspect and collect next week (@R0B)

I guess they'll inspect the car, and ask you to sign something, which of course you won't, because you've read Rob's VT document.
If you disagree, say so, it makes it easier not to sign

Basically, you need to wait and see what they come back with before second guessing it. They seem to expect the car to be returned pristine, which is just not possible.

If they come back with a cost for damage repair, you need to be firm and refuse it. You didn't sign anything in the agreement offering to pay additional costs after the agreement finished. That's the whole point here.

Personally, once the car is ready to go, I'd keep the part of the V5 doc that you need to send to DVLA for change of keeper and send that off. Make sure to ask the BCA guy who the new keeper will be. You don't want any liability after they take it.

Also take it off your insurance.

Hello, I saw your thread about VT on your Audi, we are going through the exact process you described and waiting for a collection date of the vehicle. I am just wondering how you got bon with it? My car is a 14 plate with wear and tear. Hoping they aren’t going to be too harsh.
          Any advice would be great.
          Thank you,
          Amy
