  • VT BMWFS scuff on bumper

    Hi everyone,

I have just downloaded the VT template. I am just over my 50% and my mileage is slightly lower than the agreed. My circumstances changed with a child and my current car has the negative equity from my previous car carried over so is pretty expensive each month!

It's inI good condition. Although, some Wally has scuffed my bumper. Should I get this sorted before issuing the VT notice?

It will cost about £100 to repair but cant be done any sooner than 25th.

    What are your thoughts?

Depending on the age of the vehicle, you might be able to wing it and argue reasonable wear and tear. Otherwise you should expect BMW to charge you for it and would be surprised it if is anything near what you have quoted - more likely an inflated price.

If you do get the job done, highly recommend you get some evidence that the repair was carried out such as invoice. Also try to negotiate a warranty, even if the warranty is a short one i.e. 3 months.

Just tell BMW the car is going to be undergoing some repair touch ups prior to collection so the date of collection should be arranged afte rX date. Unless you are really lucky, you won't get collection befre 25th as it's normally any time between 3-8 weeks depending on busy periods.

Thank you so much for this.
The car is only 3 years old, I was hoping to get it collected before the MOT is due but it isnt looking likely.
This site is incredible. So much helpful advice and speedy responses.
      Thank you again

But if you wanted to terminate before the MOT being due you still can and should notify the lender of its expiry asking them to expedite any collection. If, however, you want to retain the car beyond that date for repairs then don't think its unreasonable for you to foot the cost of the MOT (and possibly subsequent repairs necessary to make it roadworthy).
