  • Audi Finance VT - email pack?

Hi, I've read with interest all the information on here and after speaking to Audi Finance on the phone, have a question. The lady was actually really helpful and *appeared* to give me all the information I asked for (lulling into a false sense of security?!)

We're looking at VT-ing a few months shy of our PCP (Solutions hire purchase) contract being up (have another vehicle on order and don't want to be paying for 2 cars). We're passed the 50% mark and also well under the mileage figure she gave us if they turned up tomorrow, so no concerns there.

I asked about the process and the lady at Audi Finance told me to ring up, they'll send a VT pack via email which then needs filling in and sending back. She did say that nothing needs signing.

My question is, all the advice seems to be around sending a letter rather than doing the above, so should we be sending a letter or asking for and filling out this pack? Will they not just send a pack in response to the letter?!

Does anyone have any recent experience with these Audi Finance packs? Are they safe to fill in?

We were also told it can take 4 to 6 weeks for BCA to collect the car. Is this accurate? Again, all about timing with the new vehicle

Any advice about starting this process is welcome.

    Thanks

Answer to your first question can be found on the link below.

As to the time for BCA collecting the car, its probably an estimate and doesn't surprise me if they are going through busy periods but all that while you are still responsible for the car. Normally a reasonable amount of time is considered to be14 days but obviously where other facts are known, reasonableness can change.

Still, I think 4-6 weeks is still a long time to wait and it depends on whether you are prepared to keep the car that long and continue to retain responsibility for it. You could say that you are getting a new car and cannot wait that long for it to be collected and tell them that 4-6 weeks is too long sooffer to send it to one of their authorised dealerships, or you could say that you are prepared to wait for 2 weeks, but after that you charge them a daily rate of X for storage until collection.

If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

      Hello Stannie,

I also posted on here yesterday after receiving my pack with no challenge and with unprecedented ease. I have had cars in the past and handed them back with good wear and tear and low mileage in the last few years and i've been hit for a number of charges. Having read the threads on here regarding VT-ing cars, if the car has been bought from the show room and sat in your garage for 3.5 years, then you will probably have no issues returning your car at 50% VT point or at the end of the PCP. It sounds like the British Car Auction are over critical (and probably funded by the car manufacturers) and as such the finance companies request further funds for your car when you hand it back.
When i read the pack it is cleverly worded to try and catch you out i think. I have currently got excess mileage on my car but I am also beyond the 50% point in the agreement. There appears to be no legal claim if you VT with excess mileage as there is no reverse claim for doing less mileage. In regards to fair wear and tear i think filming and photographing your car with a time dated stamp is the best thing to do.
After i spoke to Audi and asked for the exact VT process they told me that it takes about 3-5 days to process the VT paperwork and then it can take up to 28 days for collection from that point.
I am not sure if you have to make the next payment if they haven't collected the car before the next payment date. I would suggest VT-ing the car on the day of your next payment or a day or two before so that you won't incur an additional payment charge. If they don't collect the car within 28 days I believe there is a form on here that you can use to prompt the finance company that you will no longer be held liable for the car as you have given sufficient notice of collection.
I would be very careful about returning the paperwork that AUDI have sent to you because by completing their form you are probably accepting their terms and conditions. I would use the legal beagles paperwork and send the letter via recorded delivery and e-mail on the same day. I do not believe that the voluntary termination has to be conducted by completing the finance agreements paperwork. Only that you intend to VT by letter.

        Hi, thanks for your note.

Our new car is due around mid December, so the plan was to send intention of VT after our early November payment. The lady said that once notice to VT is on the system that no further payments would be collected...So, if they do take 4 weeks to collect it sounds like a) we won't have to make another payment, b) we won't be left without a car for long (if at all - ideal)

The mileage isn't an issue, but yeah we're aware that there might be wear and tear complications. We'll deal with that if/as/when that happens.

If we were to send a templated letter to Audi, what's the process from then? How do you know that they will process it? Did you follow up with an email/phone call? Do Audi then send out paperwork/their pack out to you anyway?

        Thanks!

Thanks for your reply R0B - I've read your like. So we should NOT be asking and filling out the pack, instead sending off a templated letter, following up with an email?

What's the process then, do they let us know they have received and marked the account for VT? If they then send their pack out we should ignore this?

4 weeks actually works for us, if they want to take that long - especially if no more monthly payments will be taken
