  • Hcp and voluntary termination

    Hi
I have chosen to VT our car and as we have paid over t0% of the charges and interest we have been told this is OK to do by the credit firm, Motonova. However I have been given conflicting info which is wrong saying that it will harm our credit file. I've done some research and this is not true.
However they pointed out that as there is a personal loan attached to it, we didn't really notice at the time. Apparently we have to continue with this payment for another 3 years even if we go ahead with the Voluntarily termination. I'm struggling to get info on this and it appears that this maybe a hidden term.as on the contract by husband signed it only states a figure for the overall finance. Any advice welcome before I approach them. We haven't yet sent a letter formally requesting voluntary termination, it's only been discussed over the phone at present.

VT does not affect your credit rating but other finance companies who have their credit checks set up in a particular way discover that a VT is on your file could refuse to give you credit or there might be an increase in the interest rate.

As for the personal loan, your guess is as good as mine. You'll need to upload a copy of the contract and any pre-contract information with your personal info redacted if you want a complete answer.

Otherwise I would say that if you've taken out added products like GAP insurance or minor repair damage then that might be what they are talking about.

The only real way to find out what they mean is to ask them the question in writing and see what their reply is.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you
