VT before 50% payment

Hello all.

i have today contacted my finance company in regards to my VT. My 50% payment is next week. I have offered to pay this early but to start the VT they said they send someone out and inspect the car then a final figure is put together if there is anything above fair wear and tear. I do believe that my car is in very good condition for its age but I feel that the inspector maybe looking for things.

Can they do this?
