  • Land Rover PCP - excessive (potentially) mileage charges

Long time lurker and reader, first time poster.

I've got a 4 year old LR just coming to the end of it's PCP in September. Have gone over my contracted mileage (job change) and have been looking at VTing the car as I'm well within the more than 50% paid etc.

I've read a lot around enforceable or non enforceable mileage but I am significantly over (20k miles) which from my reading makes it harder (potentially) to avoid.
Now while I don't actually have an issue with paying the excess mileage (my fault entirely) - I do have an issue with LRFs charges - 28p per mile plus VAT (if you've gone over 5000 miles over your agreement) - going to be over £6k - which I don't have.

I think the lower amount if you're under 5000 miles is something like 7.5p per mile which would be manageable. Has anyone any experience with LRF or anyone else with arguing a lower excess mileage charge. Again I accept I've gone over my mileage but the 28p + VAT seems ridiculously high, so not sure how enforceable that would be.

I'm generally quite a risk adverse person so don't want the potential hassle of court etc. I just want to get out of the car as cheaply as possible.

For info my settlement figure is around £25k (FGV 23,500) and currently for a trade in with a dealer am being offered around £20k.
So if I'm stuck with the excess mileage I may as well trade it in and deal with the £5k rather than VT and potentially have to deal with £6.5k+

Thanks in advance for any advice and yep I know I've been daft going over my mileage by so much!
