  • Startline trying it on?

    Hi

I VT'd my vehicle on 24th January which in writing Startline agreed to!

I have noticed that on my credit file as of today it says missed payment, balance £2316.

Startline have said that it is for damages to the vehicle (it was already damaged and had poor repairs to it when I bought it 3 years ago!). They also say that I was still liable for payments after the termination date as the vehicle was still in my possession (untaxed and uninsured) and they messed about dragging it out arranging collection of it.

They have also said that the onus is on ME to prove that the damage didn't happen while it was in my possession, which I understand the onus is actually on them??!

I didn't sign anything when Manheim collected the car and they didn't offer me anything to sign either.

The CAP on the car, 11 years old and 84000 miles is 1275 poor, £1375 average, 1525 good. The vehicle sold for £1400 at auction.

Are Startline correct or are they trying it on? And can they leave the £2316 on my credit file after the VT?

    Thanks

    Jamie

I have also asked them for evidence as to the condition of the vehicle when purchased and also the form I MUST of signed when Manheim came to collect the car, they said they can not do that as they don't have anything! I really looked after the car. I even had new pads, discs, timing belt and full exhaust fitted in the three months leading up to the VT!
