  • VT advice - all gone quiet

    Hello all

I VT’d my PCP agreement with Renault back in September 2018. The vehicle had just under 10,000 excess miles on it for which Renault wanted nearly £800 and Manheim initially calculated approximately £370 in ‘damages’.

I queried the bill on both counts with the template letters here and Renault roughly halved the Manheim figure due to ‘unclear photos’ (which shows it pays to argue) but stuck firm on the mileage charge, so about £950 to pay in total.

After a few emails back and forth where I continuously reiterated how the Consumer Credit Act (1974) was on my side and they continuously said that I signed the agreement so I was contracted to pay (never actually counter-arguing any of my points), they finally told me in early December that they would no longer correspond and would pass the matter to their debt collection agency if I did not settle the bill within 3 days.

That was 7 weeks ago and I have heard nothing since. I’m not sure if they have decided I am not worth fighting but won’t tell me, or if they are getting their case together and preparing to send something threatening. I don’t want to chase them but if they are trying to worry me by giving me the silent treatment then it’s working!

Just wondered if anyone experienced has any thoughts on what might be happening or what they would do next if they were me? Thanks in advance :-)
