VT advice please

I suppose you probably have answered this a hundred times. I called Skoda finance department this morning to VT my vehicle with them. They accepted the VT, but told me I have to sign the form they sent to me by email. It's only a form that says the place and collecting address of the vehicle and my contact details. I assume this is standard procedure.
However they inform me that British Car Auction will come to collect the vehicle. But they are busy and could take 4 - 6 weeks...does that mean I have to make another payment on 21st of this month? Or can I i cancel my direct debit now they have been informed. I will be sending them the termination letter as on this forum, today by recorded delivery and signed for.
The vehicle will be parked on my driveway and not used until they collect.

If you have verbally confirmed that you wish to VT then that, strictly speaking, does not end your agreement - to end your agreement you must give notice in writing the sooner you do it the better. I would also suggest you send by post and email to cover your own back. Someone this week sent recorded delivery by email and it wasn't signed for and his payment was overdue, but you also don't need to send recorded, first class post is sufficient but obtain proof of postage receipt as evidence.

As for the form you wish to sign, you may wish to re-read the whole document because generally there will be some kind of wording on there suggesting that you agree to pay for any damage, excess mileage etc. if it does say this then you should be cautious but its your matter so entirely up to you whether you agree to sign or not. Otherwise if it is genuinely a simple form that shows your contact details and address for collection, there shouldn't be an issue signing it.

Whether you want to wait 4-6 weeks is again your choice, might become a bit difficult if you want to get another car and the Skoda one is in the way, but that's something for you to consider yourself. You only need to offer them a reasonable period of time, which to my mind 4-6 weeks for collection is not a reasonable period though I appreciate they may be busy. You could suggest that you drop the car off at the auction site provided that they pay your reasonable costs and expenses e.g. fuel expense and any costs to return home. I would not rely on this verbally, everything should be agreed and accepted in writing.

Provided the termination letter states that it is terminated effective immediately, then termination date would be Friday if sent by post or today, if not tomorrow if sent by email and you can then cancel your direct debit.

Hi Rob, thanks for that. I have sent the Voluntary Termination Letter just now by email PDF signed attachment and original will be in the post by recorded and signed for tomorrow morning. I gave them the VT template (modified with my details) letter off the forum, plus added on the information they required for collection. I will wait until early next week before cancelling the DD.
Will give them a 5 day period to reply which is what they have stated they will do. Then can discuss the drop off at the Auction House, apparently its not too far away.
