  • Urgent VT help - damage driving car to auction

I need some advice, I've just driven my car to the mannheim auction house after VTing with startline. On the way there a stone has cracked my windscreen to the point where it needs to be replaced.

I need some advice as to my liabilities. As it is their property after I agreed the VT does this mean it's their issue to sort? Or because it was still in my possession does it fall under my liability?

I have pictures that show the windscreen wasn't cracked previously.

    Any thoughts?

Fix it. The vehicle remains in your possession until it has been handed over - as you opted to drive the car to the auction (which by the way you are not legally obliged to do) then its your responsibility.

If you don't fix it, you can't complain that it is unfair if they charge you.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

Well this post has made my mind up with regard to returning vehicle to Startline....I won’t be! Just shows how easy things can and do happen. Sorry Bobbins, I know this is of no use or help to you but in a way you have helped me. Hope you get it sorted ok.

OK thanks. I'm aware I wasn't legally obliged however to get the car gone from in front of the house and avoid a load of stress with the arguments I decided to drop it off as I was going to Manchester anyway. Looks like a costly decision.

        Thanks for the advice anyway

If the car is still insured then you should be able to get it replaced on your policy, if it's not insured you were taking a huge risk driving it.
Sorry i'm just thinking out loud, it might be irrelevant, I am not employed in anyway in the legal profession, please ensure you research any advice I give before using it I have been known to be wrong on multiple occasions.
