Hi
My Nissan Juke was meant to go back today. The guy came to inspect and told me he couldn’t take it away as one of the tyres wasn’t road legal. I was abit shocked as it had a service 2 weeks before and although they told me the two front tyres tread were low. They didn’t say they weren’t legal and they didn’t tell me to get them sorted there and then, even when I told him that my car was going back in 2 weeks.
i told this to the inspector guy an he just said well I can’t take it as it’s coming up at 1.6mm.
i rang rci finance and explained the situation and said I am not willing to pay the abort fee and I was told by a Nissan dealership that the tyres were road legal 2 weeks before. They said I should speak to the dealership that did the service as they should pay the abort fee. Anyway they basically said they’re not taking liablity for it as everyone’s standards are diffeeent when it comes to tyres. She said I can come in so they can check the tyres and see how much mileage I’ve done since etc etc. There’s no point as they will just say anything could have happened in 2 weeks.
Where do I stand?
Ive had the 2 front tyres replaced now ready for collection again so can’t go back to Nissan anyway as they are diffeeent tyres now.
I’m really annoyed as the abort charge is around £170 and I don’t believe this is my fault.
any advice welcome
thanks
